Suddenly Supernatural: Scaredy Kat

When Kat turned 13 she found out she could see ghosts and speak with spirits just like her mother. She’s not your typical seventh-grader. After her adventures in the first book, School Spirit, Kat has accepted the fact that she’s a medium. But that doesn’t mean she’s not scared of the spirits that follow her around. In this second fantastically written book by Elizabeth Cody Kimmel, Kat finds out that not all spirits are friendly and some can be downright angry and terrifying. She must learn to face her fears as she tries to communicate with the ghost of a boy in the abandoned house nextdoor. With the help of her best friend Jac and a new-found ally, Orin, Kat tries to overcome her fears and help the spirits who need her.
Having loved the first book so incredibly much, I was beyond excited when I saw this book on the shelf in the bookstore. Having just come back from my Disney trip I wasn’t about to buy anything for a while, but I could not say no to this book. I had to have it! I now have the third book on my amazon wishlist as well, looks like it’s due out this summer.
I have said this before but I think the Suddenly Supernatural series is a fantastic young reader (middle grade?) series and the writing is clear and full of humour. Kimmel captures the young teen mindset wonderfully. Kat’s friendship with her best friend Jac reminds me slightly of my best friend in seventh grade as well, only I think the personalities were reversed. 
And I don’t just like the book because of the main character’s name. Just in case you thought I was biased. Ha ha. It’s an entertaining read and I always finish the books with a smile on my face. Nothing is better than a feel-good book to make your day brighter. I can not wait for the next one!

Suddenly Supernatural Series
Sounds cute! Since my library has School Spirit I might have to check these out.
I just finished the first one of this series, and I adored it. My 10-year-old daughter is in the middle of it right now, and she’s enjoying it, too. It’s fun to be able to share books! This one just came in for me at my library, and I can’t wait to read it! And I suppose I’d better hurry up, or my daughter might get to it before me.
