What up, yo!
First a True Story:
Thursday, 6pm, I see a parcel on my front stoop.
Me: Ooo! A parcel! I wonder what it is! I thought I’d gotten everything I was supposed to get already.
Husband: Well, aren’t you special.
Me: *opens parcel and see’s The Humming Room by Ellen Potter*
Me: Ooohh! The Humming Room! I totally wanted to read this!
Husband: Wait, didn’t YOU BUY this book?
Me: I guess I did. I don’t remember, but I guess I did, I mean, the packing slip says I did. I think I remember doing this.
Husband: You know you have a book-buying problem when you can’t even remember what books you’re getting anymore.
Me: *maturely sticks out tongue at husband*
End scene.
And now! The books I mention in this video:
Surprise ARCs from Simon & Schuster Canada
- Surrender (Possession, #2) - Elana Johnson
- The Unnaturalists - Tiffany Trent (I totally say the name wrong in the video. Ugh.)
- Envy (Fury, #2) - Elizabeth Miles
Accidentally bought from Book Depository (er… & Chapigo) (that’s my story and I’m sticking to it)
- The Flight of Gemma Hardy - Margot Livesey
- Unrest - Michelle Harrison
- Poison Heart - S. B. Hayes
- A Witch in Winter - Ruth Warburton
- The Book of Blood and Shadow - Robin Wasserman
- Violet Wings (book 1) - Victoria Hanley
- The Humming Room - Ellen Potter
- Renegade Magic (The Unladylike Adventures of Kat Stephenson, #2) - Stephanie Burgis
And, hey! I’d link all of these up to Goodreads as usual, but the site just went down as I was finishing up this post, so, you get two links for your viewing pleasure. You’ll have to find the others on your own because I will totally forget about coming back here and fixing up this post once it’s done. I have no memory capacity anymore. =P
I’m going to continue reading Unrest now. Happy weekend, Internet!

Great books this week and hopefully you are over your reading funk. I am desperate to get Envy as Fury was one of my faves from last year. A Witch In Winter is really cool and I am currently bidding on Poison Heart on ebay so fingers crossed I’ll win that as it sounds really good.
Does your husband show any interest on the books you get? Everytime I get a new book I show it to my fiance but he isn’t overly enthusiastic!
My husband laughs at my book obsession most of the time, but in a very loving manner.
We’re both big fantasy fans so we tend to read the same books in that genre (adult fantasy, however. Not YA.) Sometimes he’ll pick up a Middle Grade book if I tell him it’s something he’d like.
I think I might read Poison Heart next since I just finished (and loved) Unrest. Reading funk is vanishing, I think!
HAHAHAHA! I think I found my sister-friend… OMG, I have so been there with the surprise package – or at least that’s how I played it off. LOVE
Anyways, great haul this week and I hope you enjoy them all!
Happy Reading!

I was honestly surprised (and confused) when The Humming Room showed up! It was one of those “Oh, I remember thinking about wanting this, but I forgot I bought it” moments. I have surprise moments a lot, sadly. One day I forgot I was wearing two sweaters and was surprised when I went up to bed and started to change. My husband laughed A LOT over that one. My confusion over where the second sweater came from… ugh. I fear for my sanity as I get older.
Best thing about pre-ordering books way before they come out? I’m surprised when they show up at my door. haha!
I am doing the same thing. I am not reading but I bought books. Bad me! I was on Goodreads last night and you said how you really liked the 3rd book in the Hex Hall series and I figured I really have to read that series, so thanks to you I ended up buying book 1 last night… On top of all the other books I have bought lately…
Also, those books look good! I look forward to your reviews.

I think you’ll really enjoy the Hex Hall series. I know that Sassymonkey does too. They are laugh out loud fun books. Not too much boy angst, but lots of sass and action. It’s a good series to pick up when you’re feeling down or not in the mood for reading. Light, funny and actiony!
I really enjoyed watching your vlog. Hope you enjoy reading your haul!

Thanks! I think I shall enjoy it, since I have read 3 of those 11 books so far and have loved each one!
OMG, LOOK AT THAT PIANO!
Are those fairies?!
Hehehe. Enjoy your new books!

DON’T LOOK AT MY PIANO! Gah!
And yes… the top of my piano is home to my Enchanted Forest – all of my faerie figurines and a couple of enchanted trees (aka Ents that I stole from my husband’s Dungeons & Dragons collection).
I would love it if you could check mine out.

I have been staring at The Unnaturalists since I got it on Friday. I want to read it NOW. I just don’t like reading books months before I have to write about them. I have to read and write in order. GAH!
My family is resigned to my book obssession.

It’s better than say, drugs or alcohol, right? Or smoking. I mean, there’s that defence.
Loved your IMM soooo much. You rock! The Book of Blood and Shadow was pretty interesting. Be prepared, it is not a paranormal or anything like that! I was expecting that, but oh no, it was modern-ish!
Bahahha the accidental book buying gets me everytime too!
